The Legislative Coordinating Commission serves as the repository for statewide boundary information for the Minnesota Legislature. The office supports the legislature by maintaining a statewide spatial data library, delivering geographic analysis, and providing Information Technology support to the Commission's offices.
The office strives to achieve legislative transparency and enhancing public engagement by producing accurate, reliable, and accessible data through informational maps and Commission websites.
The LCC maintains a spatial data library provided by the Census Bureau and other Minnesota State agencies. This data can be integrated with many sources of information to produce maps and reports for legislators and legislative staff. Such information includes demographics, elections, natural resources and infrastructure to name a few. The Office provides the Legislature with the means to do Redistricting once every 10 years in conjunction with the decennial Census. The Redistricting process uses many geospatial data sets which the office provides and assists in maintaining. The Office also provides the Commissions Offices with Information Technology support and maintains the Legacy Amendment website.
