*(2)Nancy Brataas, R, was elected 2/1/75, replacing a man and becoming the only woman serving in the Senate at that time (1.5%) and increasing the number of women in the Legislature to eight (4.0%).

(5)Donna Peterson, DFL, was elected 1/17/80, increasing the number of women in the House to 16 (11.9%) and the number of women in the Legislature to 20 (10.0%).
